Nanoscience and nanotechnology are becoming more and more important in France. The potential economic activity generated by nanotechnologies is very high and will represent roughly an amount of 1000 billions € in 2015. The future companies working in this area will be based on sites proposing infrastructures, equipment, skills and competences allowing relevant Research and Development activities. Consequently, it will be critical for these companies in their emerging years to be linked with public research in order to use their equipment and competences.

In this context, the University of Technology of Troyes (UTT) and the University of Reims Champagne Ardennes (URCA) have combined their equipment and their skills to create Nanofabrication and Nanocharacterization platform: NANOMAT. This platform is located in these two universities and is devoted to materials for optics, mechanics, biology and agro-resources.

Moreover, NANOMAT will allow research laboratories working in those areas to use equipment and skills essential to a good progress of their activities. The platform will also serve as support for the development of teaching and training in the field of nanoscience in the region of Champagne-Ardennes.
